FSC Inc. has leased new office space at Corporate Woods in Overland Park to accommodate expanding staff and business.
Sonia Garapaty, the design and engineering firm’s CEO, said the move was made because of recent growth after several stagnant years in the construction industry dragged down her business.
“Business slowed down so we shrunk,” Garapaty said. “Now we’re starting to see some of that pick up … we’re positive that it will start to grow again, and we can go back to where we were at one time.”
Garapaty said that FSC’s offices formerly were in Kansas City but that she decided to return to Kansas because of her connections to the area and PEAK tax incentives offered by the state for moving jobs across the border.
Garapaty said she brought 32 employees to the new location and wants to increase that by 15 or 20 in the next six years.
The firm has been at the space formerly leased to New York pharmaceutical giant Pfizer Inc. (NYSE: PFE) for one and a half years under a sublease and now is officially leasing the space for the next five and a half years.
