FSC, Inc. Code Division's primary mission is to assist our clients achieve their goals which may be design goals or cost saving goals.

Services Our services vary to complement the strengths of each client.
• Code Consulting – We provide guidance through the design process:
	-To understand the design goals
	-To develop a code approach that is acceptable to the team and the jurisdiction
	-To identify nonconforming code issues and be a resource for solutions
	-To present the code approach (including alternates and modifications) to the code officials

• Code Modifications and Alternates – The code does not address every possible condition. In order to best support alternative solutions, we provide the supporting technical justification and, because we understand the perspectives of jurisdictions, we present the issues in a manner that fits into their code frame of reference.
• Fire and Smoke Modeling – Modeling can be used to evaluate fire resistance of structural members , determine activation time of sprinklers or smoke detectors, and calculate the volume of mechanical exhaust. Generally, prescriptive smoke exhaust quantities can be reduced using this performance approach.

• Timed Egress Methodology – A timed egress study is used to determine the minimum “available safe egress time”. This information is related to smoke development. The “available safe egress time” and smoke development are then compared to request additional travel distances or determine safety factors.
